About:
Documenting Bumtar Monastery in Namchi is a complex and culturally sensitive task due to its spiritual significance, challenging terrain, and intricate architecture. The Cultural Affairs & Heritage Department of Sikkim, partnering with Echostream, combines traditional research and modern technology to preserve these sacred spaces. This effort is vital for cultural preservation, historical research, and education, especially as Sikkim is a UNESCO mixed (Nature & Culture) World Heritage site. Monasteries like Bumtar are hubs of spiritual practice, art, and oral traditions, making their documentation essential to protect intangible heritage from threats like natural disasters and modernization.

Project Scope: Mani Chyokor Monastery Panels and Virtual Tour
This project involves the creation of two informative panels and an immersive virtual tour to enhance visitors' understanding and experience of Mani Chyokor Monastery. The scope of work includes:
- Panel Design Layouts:
- Develop two detailed panels to be displayed outside the monastery.
- Panel 1: Provide illustrations of each floor of the monastery, highlighting key architectural elements and artifacts, with supporting text to explain their significance.
- Panel 2: Present the history of the monastery, including its founding, transformation, and the people involved in its development, using both visual and written content.
- Virtual Tour:
- Design an interactive 360° virtual tour of the monastery, allowing users to explore all three floors.
- Incorporate interactive elements within the tour, such as clickable hotspots for more information on artifacts, architecture, and the cultural history of the monastery.
The aim was to provide visitors with both physical and digital tools to deepen their engagement with the monastery’s rich spiritual and historical heritage.
